English Kindergarten for Expat Children

Maple Kids International (MKI) Preschool and Kindergarten Classes are perfectly suited to children of overseas expats on temporary work assignment in Nagoya and/or Japanese children with a foreign parent. Our curriculum and school environment is complete English immersion and includes all of the subjects and activities your child would experience at a Kindergarten "back home".

MKI is conveniently located in the  Kakuozan area of Chikusa Ward in Nagoya. The area is popular among expats and serviced by the Higashiyama Subway line connecting the east side of Nagoya to the downtown business and shopping district as well as Nagoya Station. Many expats also choose to reside in the area as it is reasonably close to Nagoya International School (NIS), so if you have kids in elementary school, as well as preschoolers, the area (and Maple Kids International) is all the more convenient.

Our mission encompasses the following core values:

  1. Holistic Development: We believe in nurturing the cognitive, emotional, social, and physical development of each child. Our curriculum is designed to foster critical thinking, problem-solving, empathy, and resilience.
  2. Language Excellence: We are dedicated to providing an immersive English-language environment that encourages natural language acquisition. Through engaging activities, interactive lessons, and meaningful interactions, we enable our students to communicate confidently and effectively in English.
  3. Cultural Enrichment: We celebrate diversity and recognize the importance of understanding and respecting different cultures. Our students learn about not only the English language but also the customs, traditions, and perspectives of various cultures, fostering a global mindset.
  4. Play-Based Learning: We recognize the significance of play in a child's development. Our teaching methodology integrates play-based learning to make education enjoyable, fostering a lifelong love for learning.
  5. Safe and Supportive Environment: The well-being of our students is our utmost priority. We maintain a secure and nurturing environment where children can confidently explore, learn, and express themselves.
  6. Innovation and Adaptability: In an ever-changing world, we remain committed to staying current with the latest educational practices and technologies. We adapt our methods to best suit the evolving needs of our students and their futures.

We utilize the Montessori Method!

Maple Kids International instructors are certified for teaching the Montessori method, and we actively incorporate the method into our curriculum.

The Montessori method is a child-centered approach to education that emphasizes hands-on learning, self-directed activity, and independence, encouraging children to explore and learn at their own pace in a prepared environment.

- Wikipedia

Montessori education is particularly conducive to language learning because it fosters a natural, hands-on, and self-directed approach, encouraging children to explore language through meaningful activities and interactions, ultimately leading to a love for communication and learning.

That said, since we focus on a broad range of subjects (taught within English immersion), we are very hands-on, utilizing the Montessori method in all of our curricula including science experiments, cooking activities, excursions, and so on.
